FAQs

Do we need to provide our own food?

No, we provide professional feed called Bil-Jac. Bil-Jac is a high protein, poultry based dry pet food. Although this food is very palatable and the majority of our guests do well on it, some customers choose to keep their pet on their own diet. If you wish to bring your own food, all we ask is that you only bring enough for your pet’s stay and that it is packaged in a bag or reseal able container that we can label with your pet’s name and feeding instructions.

Can I bring my own dog bed and toys?
We provide cots and bedding. We have everything your pet needs to have a comfortable stay. If you would like, you may bring a small, washable blanket and toy. We reserve the right to use personal belongings at our discretion for the well-being of your pet.
What are the needed documents for my dog or cat to stay at Day Hill Kennels?

What happens if my pet becomes ill while at the kennel?

Although it rarely occurs, our professionally trained staff is experienced at recognizing illness. If this is the case, we provide transportation to the pet’s own veterinarian whenever possible. If this is not possible (i.e. out-of-state) we use a local veterinarian and seek immediate treatment to protect your pet’s well-being.

What if my dog is on medication?

If your pet is on medication, clearly label the medication with the proper dosage and frequency and our staff will administer it appropriately.

Do I need to bring my own feeding bowl?

No, Day Hill Kennels provides sterilized, stainless steel bowls.

Why is my dog so thirsty when he gets home?

Even though all of our guests are provided with water 24 hours a day they will often seem thirsty when they first get home. This is not uncommon and is caused by the excitement and anxiety of being reunited with their owner. It is best to limit their water intake for the first hour of arriving home until they settle down.

Why is my dog so tired when he gets home?

Are you tired when you get home from vacation? Well, it’s no different for your pet! After spending a week or two in a strange bed and a different environment we’re all tired. Let’s face it, there is no place like home and in a day or two we are all back to our old selves again.
